Why We Love Kitchari
Kitchari is a healthful Indian dish traditionally made with yellow mung dal, basmati rice, spices that encourage digestion and ghee (clarified butter). You can easily find all of these products at the grocery store or come to Pharm Table and let us make it for you! We often like to use quinoa in our kitchari bowls to make them even healthier.
As you probably know, proper digestion is integral to our health. In India and the states, people who practice Ayurveda use kitchari as a mono-nutrient fast that gives the digestive system a much-needed respite. When most people hear the words fast, cleanse or detox, they often associate them with starvation, but this doesn’t have to be, nor should it be, the case. You can cleanse gently and we believe, deliciously, with kitchari.
